An invitation to discover an amazing journey. Publish your very own travelogue. Join Catherine Khoo as she takes you on a journey to discover yourself and life’s simple pleasures. Experience Cambodia like no other trip can, for you and your child:

  • You will be introduced to the history, culture and various aspects of Cambodia lives
  • Visit the National Museum & Tuol Sleng Museum. Students will be introduced to COSEL eco-education
  • Work with the orphans in the village to create story for travelogue
  • Dinner with camp fire and activities in COSEL
  • Visit Tuan Or schoolhouse and conduct English lessons and games for the children
  • Learn to cook Khmer food, chicken rice and make nonya kueh to raise funds for charity

Your guide in this writing journey is Catherine Khoo, who will take you along this journey of self-discovery. The product of Amazing Journeys is a published printed compilation of thoughts and experiences of you, the participants, as you help the underprivileged and build bonds along the way. Not only that, your family will also get to write your own travel app, and stand a chance to upload it to popular travel sites.

ITINERARY*
Day 01 – SINGAPORE / Phnom Penh
  • Assemble at Changi Airport to board your flight to Phnom Penh.
  • On Arrival, meet and greet by local guide. Guide will introduce the history, culture and various aspects of Cambodia lives.
  • We will first visit the National Museum. The museum houses one of the world’s largest collections of Khmer art, including sculptural, ceramics, bronzes, and ethnographic objects. The Museum’s collection includes over 14,000 items, from prehistoric times to periods before, during, and after the Khmer Empire, which at its height stretched from Thailand, across present-day Cambodia, to southern Vietnam. The Museum buildings, inspired by Khmer temple architecture, were constructed between 1917 and 1924, the museum was officially inaugurated in 1920,and renovated in 1968.
  • Lunch in city restaurant.
  • Continue to visit the Tuol Sleng Museum . Known as the Museum of Genocidal Crimes it was used by the Khmer Rouge as a detention and torture center in the late 1970. We will arrange for an interview with a survivor of the facility.

Day 02 – COSEL homestay
  • Convenient stop at supermarket before making our way to COSEL Eco-Education. On arrival, we will go on an orientation tour. Students will be introduced to the COSEL Eco-Education project.
  • Lunch at the Women Commune Kitchen
  • Take the afternoon to settle into homestay and a short trek to the waterfall (ox cart experience included). Take some time to learn traditional craft and dance from the village children.
  • Dinner with activities at the Women Commune Kitchen in COSEL.

Day 03 – COSEL homestay
  • Breakfast in village
  • This morning, students will assemble at the Tuan Or village school for games with local students.
  • We will help local children create photojournal and/or video clips that will be uploaded to promote ways of conservation. Alternatively, we will help to create signs that will be put up along the trekking trails.
  • Lunch at the COSEL.
  • In the afternoon, continue project.
  • Dinner with camp fire and activities at the women commune kitchen.

Day 04 – Phnom Penh
  • Breakfast in COSEL
  • Pack up and return to Phnom Penh.
  • Lunch in Barn Barn cafe, a community cafe to raise funds for orphans
  • Prepare for great cook-out for charity.
  • Dinner in city restaurant.

Day 05 – Phnom Penh
  • Breakfast in Harvest House
  • This morning, we will be in Barn Barn, cooking and selling Khmer food to raise funds for orphans.
  • Late lunch in Barn Barn
  • Take some free time to take a river cruise.

Day 06 – Phnom Penh / Singapore
  • Breakfast in Harvest House
  • This morning, we will finalise the stories and travelogue
  • Late lunch in Barn Barn
  • Take some free time to explore the Russian Market till transfer to airport.
