Kayla Lien
“My name is Kayla Lien and I was 10 years old when I wrote my book, “A Beginning at The End.” I am 11 years old and currently in Primary 5 in Methodist Girls’ School. My mother is Chinese while my father is Swedish. I like to read and enjoy playing basketball and soccer. My favourite books are the Harry Potter and A Series of Unfortunate Events series.” “I love writing as it gives me a chance to express my feelings from another person’s point of view, in a fictional or fantasy story. When I write, I want the readers to feel a sense of wanting to find out what happens next. As a reader, I half like and half hate cliff hangers: they leave you wondering what will happen next while at the same time leaving you to come up with your own endings.YAS (Young Authors’ Scheme) offers a programme for your authors, like myself, to write a book and get it published. It was fun and I learnt a lot of things from the programme, such as how to format a book. YAS also taught me how to appreciate how much effort is put into writing a book.”
