Shana Lam
My name is Shana, I study in Methodist Girls’ School and I am turning eleven this year. My keen interest in art and fantasy led me to write my book in 2016 as part of the Young Author’s Scheme. Swimming, dancing and singing are what I do in my spare time. I also like animals and my favourite is the hedgehog. When I grow up I would like to be a voice actress in cartoons to bring joy to children. The Young Author’s Scheme was fun and educational at the same time. The instructors were very encouraging and understanding. They helped us to build up our vocabulary and taught us methods to improve our writing. I discovered my love for writing through this course! I also enjoyed illustrating the book as I love drawing. After attending the Young Author’s Scheme, I have also been inspired me to write about my dreams and ambitions.

I woke up in a blur. Everything was blue! The memories of my best friend, Betsie, floated around in my mind as I ran towards my secret hideout. Pusheen, my pet cat and loyal companion, dug up a book.My hands glowed and the next thing we knew, we were inside the book. The amazing adventure started here. I needed to find out what caused the blueness. With the help of Pusheen, we managed to take down the villain causing this turmoil, each step of the journey growing braver and stronger, as we found interesting items, picked up astonishing information and meeting dreadful creatures along the journey.
