\nJoin us on 7th December for an enriching walking trail that celebrates the vibrant 70 year history of our estate. Our 160-page book documents the voices of current and former residents and shop owners, capturing the developments that have shaped our beloved community. Along the trail, there will be stories narrated by long-time residents of our unique estate. You will visit original and upgraded homes revealing our evolving landscape, and experience the laid back feel of a former British village. <\/p>\n

\nView a 70-year-old single storey house with minor renovations. Mabel Wee will share her story (Preface & changes in the estate.) <\/p>\n

Light refreshments – Bottled water & snacks for participants\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

9:30 am<\/td>\nWalk to Chartwell Park<\/strong>.
\nAdmire the old and new houses on the way. See the flora and fauna within and beyond parks. Meet Judy and her love birds and\/or a morning Taichi regular (pg 73 -75) <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
9:45 am<\/td>\nVisit St Francis Xavier, a Catholic Church (pg 83)<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
9:55 am<\/td>\nContinue along Chartwell to Burghley Drive, pass Our Lady of Good Counsel (pg 95-97) and Golden Hill (pg 63).<\/strong>
\nAnne Teo will share about the rubber plantation next to her childhood home at 1 Burghley Drive.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
10:10 am<\/td>\nVisit Theodore Chan\u2019s modern house at Cardiff Grove (pg 140: CNA feature in QR Code) to view a \u201cchanging face, changing landscape\u201d<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
10:30 am<\/td>\nProceed to a former crocodile farm below Caltex Petrol Station.<\/strong>
\nAnne (pg 62-63) will share her stories on sight of crocodiles & smells of the past. Now exists a housing estate at La Quinta Park where the tannery was located<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
10:50 am<\/td>\nVisit another home at Cardiff Grove\u202fthat blends with nature because of extensive use of timber and Frances\u2019 favourite outdoor kitchen (pg 139)<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
11:00 am<\/td>\nCross Lorong Chuan to Serangoon Central. In the past, Kampong Jalan Nira (pg 61) was an area with flower nurseries.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
11:30 am<\/td>\nEnd of trail at NEX. All participants are invited to the Book Launch at 2pm Serangoon Public Library at L4R.<\/strong>
