I am 10 years old and study in a girls’ school. In my spare time I like reading books by David Walliams, Roald Dahl and the Harry Potter series. I wrote the Mystery of the Hidden Cave because I enjoy mysteries and detective stories like Secret Seven and the Five Find-Outers by Enid Blyton. Being part of the YAS programme in school has improved my writing, storytelling and planning skills, and has allowed me to practise my vocabulary. I can’t believe I actually wrote a chapter book. I never imagined that my story would have the chance to be shortlisted. YAS has taught me how to structure my ideas into a very long story, and it has helped me think about how to add twists and turns to my story to make it more interesting for readers.
